
RYA Sail for Gold – INSPIRE – CELEBRATE - SUPPORT
Push the Boat Out Day. 2pm Saturday 21st July 2012.
In support of the British Olympic Sailing Team.
All members are invited to a special event at MBSC called Push the Boat Out Day on Saturday 21st July at 2pm
The object of the day is to have fun, get as many boats as possible on the water, get the sailing club noticed and promote the RYA Sail for Gold support for the Olympic Sailing Team
Programme for the Day
- 2pm Assemble at the Club for briefing
- 3pm Team sailing relay racing (see relay race format below) and/or coast hugging sailing cruise part way to Reculvers
- 5pm Tea and cakes in the Club
- 6pm MBSC Rules the Beach, OK ! Games on the beach.
- Adults and Juniors – Girls v Boys rounders
- Cadets – Beach football, and Frisbee
- 7:30 BBQ and medal ceremony
Please let us know if you would like to take part, sign up on the Club Notice Board. Cost for the Tea/cakes and BBQ, Adults £5, Juniors and Cadets go free.
Fingers crossed for the right sort of weather on the day. High water is 2:15pm. Also we could do with a couple of volunteers skilled at burning sausages and burgers please
Team Relay Race Format
A knock out competition between teams of 8 sailing side by side on a short upwind / downwind course in Laser 2000 dinghies run from safety boats. Each pair from each team completing one lap and then changing over from the safety boat. That is to say there will be 2 teams on the water simultaneously. We can probable handle 4 or 6 teams in the time available. It is intended that the pairs in the teams will be based on an experienced sailor with a cadet or less experienced sailor as helm so that everyone can take part. Team selection to be arranged on the day.
