Minnis Bay Sailing Club is a dinghy and catamaran sailing club suitable for racing or cruising.

Minnis Bay, as an area, is one of Kent's best kept secrets - the first time visitor cannot fail to be impressed by the quality of the beach and its surroundings.

Classes currently sailing within the club include:- F18, Dart, Spitfire and A-Class catamarans; Phantom, Laser 2000, Buzz, Osprey, Topper, Contender, Byte and Mirror dinghys.

The club has a small fleet of boats for sail training and club members to hire, including Laser 2000, Laser Pico, and Topper Sport 16.

Sailing Duties 2012

New system for the rest of the season- Please see the web link to Dutyman on the clubs website for all sailing duties, it is now possible to volunteer/swap/manage duties from the comfort of your own home , if you have not received login details or do not have Internet access please contact Simon Northrop on the details below.

Please note that members are able to sign up for their required duties by 31st May, after this date the duty allocation will be drawn randomly from the Dutyman system in relation to the required number of duties for each club member.

Olympic Summer Ball

Four Thanet Sailing Clubs are marking the 2012 Olympics by hold a Summer Ball at the Winter Garden on Sat 30th June.

This is a black tie event and there will be 4 Courses followed by Live music.

Individual Club tables of 8-14 are available.

Tickets on sale email club, contact Nick Field or add your name to the list on the notice board.

Club Night

The club is open every Friday from 8 to 11pm. The bar is run by MBSC members on a volunteer basis which enables the prices to be the best in Town.

Minnis Bay Travellers

A strong team of Cat sailors representing Minnis Bay travelled to Datchet Water over the weekend of 17th & 18thMarch

The Formula 18 Fleet was dominated by Simon Northrop & Tom Wacker coming out on top of the 17 strong fleet.  Oli Northrop & Josh finished in sixth place closely followed by Matt Young and Seb Sammys in 10th. Oliver ‘crew for hire’ Egan helped Will Sunnocks from Brightlingsea sc to a forth position.

Chris Field on his ‘A’ Class won all six races in the handicap fleet completing a memorable weekend for MBSC showing that Minnis Bay travellers lead and others just follow.

New Executive Committe

Although it took an EGM, a new Executive committee has been formed to run the club for the neat year.  Headed by new Comodore Nick Field he is 1 of 5 new members to the committee.  Nick will be concentrating on the social side of the club with the introduction of evening talks and demonstrations.

Sail Training

Following the training of 8 members to RYA Instructor, the club has now achieved Training Centre status.  This means the club can now train members to RYA Level 1 and 2.  If anyone would to take advantage of sail training please contact a member of a committee.
